How does a piece start? Is there something like a cliché contemporary music beginning? How do my own pieces start?

This piece came about after having done thorough analyses of my own and others’ works and having thought hard about the general nature of beginnings. A piece about beginnings but one that never seems to begin, and then later comments on its own progress.
