About
In February of 2014, Bodø Sinfonietta commissioned 10 pieces of 2’14’’ each for their celebration of the Norwegian constitution, an additional requirement being that they should refer to a Norwegian anthem.
I used “Norges skaal” (“Cheers to Norway”, more widely known by its first line “For Norway, birthland of warriors”) with other elements to combine for a slightly unorthodox “celebration”.
The Norwegian title translates to “Freedom, giants, mountains and whatever”.
