One of the things I’m working on for my website is an entirely new section that will become a shop. It’s starting to take shape, and I hope to launch “benteshop” sometime in January!
benteshop
The plan is to sell one physical item: CDs with my music. However, the main focus will be on digital sheet music and teaching. To make more of my works, especially solo pieces like “Lush darkness – glaring light”, more accessible worldwide, I decided some time ago to create an online store. Until recently, NBnoter didn’t offer digital downloads, but then they suddenly launched PDF sales. After some consideration, I decided to sell the music directly here on my website anyway. That way, recordings and information about the works are just a step away from purchase—and maybe I can earn a little too?
Teaching
From time to time, I take on private students, and they tend to show up a bit randomly. I’ve now gathered some information and created “package programs.” With this, I hope it’ll be easier to get in touch and clearer what to expect. I might also do something with some of my teaching materials in the future (sales or courses, etc.). If you’re interested in lessons, you don’t have to wait for the shop—just get in touch!
MENTOR PROGRAM
Another way to pay for a chat with me (!) is through a mentorship program. I’m listed with two mentorship programs for those interested in such opportunities:
- The Norwegian Society of Composers and NOPA have a mentorship program for members.
- Musikkontorene and Music Norway offer a mentorship program for anyone in the music field.
Musikkontorene writes about their mentorship program:
“Mentor is for those who have made some progress, whether in your artist project, as a musician, organizer, or as a company.” You can apply and be granted 3 or 10 hours of mentoring, with a focus on career development in various ways. “Mentor is for those who have made some progress and are ready for the next step in your professional career.”
I want to emphasize that, even though “composer” isn’t mentioned once on the page, it is absolutely possible for composers to apply as well!
