About

Vilhelm Krag was the one to coin the term Sørlandet.

The sea is everywhere in Sørlandet.

Vilhelm Krag also wrote quite a few melancholy poems about things like birds, corpses and the night.

And the sea.

As one of his contemporaries, composer Agathe Backer Gröndahl set many of Vilhelm Krags poems to music in their time.

She especially liked the melancholy poems about things like birds, corpses and the night.

And the sea.

Bente Leiknes Thorsen hails from Tjøme. There as well, the sea is everywhere.

She enjoys cutting and pasting music set to melancholy poems about birds, corpses and the night.

And the sea.

This work is based on fragments from the following works that Agathe Backer Gröndahl set to poems by Vilhelm Krag:

  • Ten songs on poems by Vilhelm Krag, op. 29, nos. 3, 6 and 7
  • Ten songs on poems by Vilhelm Krag, op. 31, nos. 3, 4 and 7
