I delivered the piece Who do you want to be to Susanne Kessel last summer. She has commissioned 250 works (!) and performs numerous concerts, so it’s been uncertain when it would premiere. I’m planning to go to Bonn in April for a concert where it’s scheduled, but yesterday I received an email saying it’s premiering today.
I tried to see if it was possible to get from Nesodden to Bonn on short notice, but it was simply impossible. It’s not often I miss a premiere, and it’s strange to think that others will hear the piece before I do…
But the occasion is undeniably very fitting—it’s happening at the opening of an exhibition about Beethoven and the women in his life, at the Women’s Museum in Bonn.
Naturally, I can see that this is the ideal setting for the piece.
